β First 24 Hours After Death
- βContact a funeral director β They will guide you through the entire process and collect the body
- βRegister the death β At the hospital (if death occurred there) or ICA within 24 hours
- βNotify immediate family β Inform close relatives and friends as soon as possible
- βDecide on burial or cremation β Based on religious/family preferences
- βDetermine wake location β Home, HDB void deck, or funeral parlour
β Week 1: Funeral Arrangements
- βChoose funeral package β Select casket, services, wake duration based on budget
- βArrange religious services β Engage monks/priests/pastors for funeral rites
- βPlan catering β If providing meals for attendees during wake
- βSend obituary notices β Notify extended family, friends, colleagues via WhatsApp/newspaper
- βPrepare eulogy/tributes β Coordinate with family members who will speak
- βApply for CPF funeral grant β Submit claim form to CPF Board
β After the Funeral: Estate Settlement
- βLocate the will β Check if deceased left a will with lawyer or at home
- βApply for Grant of Probate/Letters of Administration β If estate value exceeds $50,000
- βSettle outstanding bills β Utilities, credit cards, loans, insurance premiums
- βClaim CPF savings β Beneficiaries can claim deceased's CPF balance
- βCancel subscriptions β Phone, internet, memberships, etc.
- βSeek grief support β Consider counseling if needed (see below)
